Respect for the environment to ensure a better future for our planet

Automar, as part of the Green Program, is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its activities.
Over the past few years, over 1 million euros has been invested in sustainability: we have made our offices more efficient, installed photovoltaic modules for the production of clean electricity, set up wall boxes for recharging electric cars, promoted the use of FSC certified recycled paper and banned the use of plastic.

In 2019, the Automar Green Day was established, an annual day
to promote virtuous habits and behaviors within the company.

Stop the plastic!

Did you know that about 70% of oxygen comes from the oceans, more than from all tropical forests in the world? And did you know that the seas are the main source of protein for more than one million people?
The oceans occupy 3⁄4 of our planet and by 2050 the weight of plastic in the oceans could exceed that of fish.
The problem of plastic in the oceans does not only concern remote locations, our coasts, beaches, our rivers are also affected. The Mediterranean specifically has one of the highest plastic density rates in the world.

Save the oceans

Plastic is the most obvious problem, but we cannot forget the loss of biodiversity and the excessive exploitation of fish resources.
In the last 50 years, the Mediterranean Sea has lost almost half of its marine mammals and 34% of its fish population. In some areas, seas are depleted up to 14 times beyond sustainable limits.

The result of fish overexploitation, in particular, is that most of the species destined for our tables risk disappearing.
Safeguarding the oceans is a topic that concerns everyone and with everyone’s contribution we can help protect this precious heritage.

Automar joins Mosaico Verde

Automar is the first company in the south to join Mosaico Verde. We have planted over 1500 trees in the last 3 years as part of a national reforestation campaign sponsored by the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies, FSC® Italia, the Kyoto Club, the Lowland Forest Association, the University of Padua, the Tuscia University, Crea, the Metropolitan City of Turin, the Association of Orange Flag Countries, the British Embassy in Rome and the Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation.
By joining Mosaico Verde, Automar wants to reduce the company’s environmental costs, enhance relations with the local area and involve employees and stakeholders who are increasingly sensitive to environmental issues.
